Nice in Nice
29.04.2019
Caught my train to Nice without incident. Trip was pleasant with a short stop in Avignon to switch trains.
Arrived at Nice Ville station got my ticket for the Tramway and then spent 10 minutes finding where the tram was. It was only 5 stops to Cathedral Vieille Ville and I was greeted off the train by my AirBnB host Alex. The flat was in the heart of the old town, directly behind the Cathedral (I stared at the dome when I opened the curtains. Luckily the flat had an elevator, but you have to carry your suitcase up 2 flights of stairs first. The elevator was only big enough for my suitcase and myself … tight squeeze.
Upon arrival, I quickly got settled in and grabbed my purse and headed out to get lost. The streets are narrow in the old town so you need to mark out landmarks (or restaurants, as I did) along the way so you can get back. You can use your phones GPS if you can get a clear cell signal which didn’t happen all that often in amongst the high buildings.
I found the local Monoprix (grocery store) and stocked up on some essentials as well as a frozen dinner to have for my supper. I found my way to the seaside and had a walk along the Promenade des Anglais before heading back to the flat for a tea and an early night.
