Genovese Palaces

In Genoa, there are 2 weekends a year where the Palaces along Via Garibaldi are open to the Public for free.  These are called 'Rolli Days'.  As luck would have it, I'm here on one of those weekends !!
The Palaces were, or still are, owned by the richest families in Genoa history.  Most of the Palaces date back from the 1600's and many of the frescos, paintings and marble floors are still original. My AirBnB Host, Luisa, asked me if I wanted to go with her to the Palaces ... so we went together. 
Wow, the Palaces were beautiful !  They had Archeologists available to answer questions about the architecture and how social standing influenced Genovese culture.
After spending many, many hours going from Palace to Palace, Luisa and I went over to Cavour 21 for a final dinner.  After dinner, we went to her 'local' bar for a whiskey before heading back to the Flat.

It was an amazing experience, what a great way to round out my time in Genoa.  I had no idea what to expect from this city ... I came here because most people travelling Italy seem to bypass it.  It's an amazing city and should be on your travel list !
