Jet lag gone ... mostly

]Just starting my 3rd day in Augerolles.
The air here is so clean, the scenery is beautiful and the riding is awesome. My host family are lovely... helping me with my limited French language and switching to English when they see my eyes glaze over 🤣
The family home is an 18th century farmhouse, simple living but so, so comfortable. I have all of my meals with the family and sometimes other family friends. They have all been so welcoming and we both manage to communicate with our limited abilities in each other’s language.

It’s a busy farm, with clients bring their horses for training, certification or breeding. In the 3 days since my arrival, there has been a stallion arrive from Belgium for certification, 2 mares for breeding and 2 other Rocky Mountain mares for full training and certification. I had no idea that Rocky Mountain horses were so popular over here in Europe.

The trail riding here is amazing. Within a few hours you can traverse a lot of different landscapes, ride through medieval villages, see Chateaus and ascend the mountains. The horses are sure footed and have endurance like I’ve never seen before. They are just getting warmed up after 3 hours on some pretty steep terrain.

Today looks a like there is a little rain in the forecast so we may only do a short ride ... but we may get lucky 😀
