Positive in Positano
13.05.2019
My Driver, Leo, was waiting for me right at 9:30. The drive to Positano would take approximately 1 1/2 hours along the Almafi coastal road.
This is a WICKED road ... amazingly beautiful and so, so narrow with sheer drops to the sea. Leo kept me talking the whole way there .. he's done this drive many, many times. He laughed and said 'hope we don't meet a bus' ... I cringe to think.
The scenery was incredible ... everything I had imagined and more. As Positano came into view I was thinking we were nearly there. No ... the road curls around the mountains makeing hairpin turns up and down the side. When we finally arrived in Positano the traffic was crazy !. Not that there was a lot of it, but holy moly ! how do they get home without killing themselves or others.
Again, I thought we were almost there ... wrong again. Nocelle is located way up the mountain from Positano. The road goes to Nocelle and back to Positano and is not part of the Amalfi highway. This road nearly made me change my underwear. In many places you cannot pass each other no matter how small your vehicle is (maybe 2 scooters) so, the bigger the vehicle, the more right of way they have. Cars were having to reverse ... UPHILL ! until the buses could pass. Insane ... I repeat ... Insane.
Finally we arrived at the end of the road ... a small parking lot on the side of a cliff where the locals park their vehicles and the bus makes it's turn around to head back to Positano (see pics). I have arrived !

I see the sign for my B&B ... there are stairs going down ... my suitcase is 23kg and my backpack is 10kg ... how the hell am I going to do this. I turned the suitcase around and let it slide from one step to the next ... finally reaching the flat path after about 120steps. I continue to walk looking for more signs to my BnB. I found the road, 'Via Arco' ... the BnB is at #28 ... this is #1 on the left and it's another set of stairs .. these ones are very steep and uneven. Again, I let the suitcase do the work ... but how the heck am I going to ever get it back up :-o
Finally checked in .. the room is lovely with a newly reno'd bathroom with jacuzzi tub. There is a kitchenette and an awesome private garden complete with sunbeds.
I spent a lot of time getting aquainted with the place, including the breakfast area upstairs with the most amazing views. There is a restaurant about 5 minutes walk away, I think I'll go there for dinner as it way recommended by the BnB host.
Guess where it is .... bloody stairs !!!
The meal was really good and the view was great !
Can't wait to hit the hay ... not sure what I'll do tomorrow ... depends how I feel.
