Ohhhh ...Vienna

Today is my daughter's birthday !  I'm excited to Facetime with her later tonight.
I had to check out of my AirBnB by 10am this morning but my flight to Vienna doesn't leave until 2:45pm.  As it's a domestic flight I'm only required to be at the airport 90 minutes before flight time.  Oh well ... I don't have anything else to do and I'm not lugging a 23kg bag around Venice, so I'll go straight to the airport ... slowly.
As you may have read when I arrived in Venice, my flat was on the 3rd floor (6 flights of stairs) which my host graciously hauled up for me.  Today, I'm on my own.  Surprisingly enough ... as the stairs are marble, my suitcase slides down each flight of stairs rather easily :D
To get to the bus terminal, where I will catch the airport bus, I now need to traverse two more bridges ... argh.
Job done and I didn't hurt myself ... surprising seeing as what's happened to me on this trip *LOL*
The bus takes about 30 minutes to get to airport and I arrive at approximately 11am.  Only 4 hrs and 15 minutes till boarding and I'm still hauling my bag around as the check in counter doesn't open until 90 minutes before flight time.  Coffee it is !
Finally get my bag checked in and now I can roam around with just my backpack until boarding.
At 2:15 we are herded onto transport buses to be taken to the plane.
The flight was very nice, only an hour and we passed over some beautiful mountain ranges as we flew over Slovenia.
Landed in Vienna and had my suitcase in about 15 minutes.  Time to find the buses.
The Airport bus takes you to the first district (which is the end of the line).  My flat is the second district, which is on the other side of the Danube canal (not to be confused with the Danube river which doesn't flow into the city).  I crossed the bridge and turned left ... at the first street turned right ... walked 50 steps and I was at my final AirBnb stay for this adventure.
The flat is the smallest one yet.  It has a murphy bed a small table with 2 chairs, a separate kitchette and bathroom.  It does have a washing machine which is a big plus.
I quickly settle in and then take a trip back across the bridge to find some dinner.  As I crossed the bridge there was a lot of people and noise on both sides of the canal below.  There was a food festival going on with live bands and the smell of the food trucks was amazing !
I'll go and have a look   It was sooooo busy ... bodies were elbow to elbow but I managed to score some jagerschnitzel in a bun and a small beer. 
After eating, I walked down toward the band area ... amazingly, I was not the only old person there !   We were a pretty big group !
The band started ... OMG ... punk is not dead in vienna ... and neither is the 80's.  It was all sung in German but it didn't matter ... I danced my little foots off anyway ... along with all the other old fogies.
After my knee started to tell me that was enough, I made my way back to the flat.  It was 11pm here which meant it was 5pm back home.  I had a good birthday chat with Jamie and tucked in for some sleep.
Tomorrow there are horses !!!!
